Episode 13: Waiting for Ed-Ot (with Occasional FM)

George starts this episode off on his own, as Ed tries to make sure that Thomas doesn’t scream too much in the background. Our special guest is Chris Samson from Occasional FM who breaks with tradition by not making ‘that’ joke when he’s introduced.

This week’s question of the week revolves around which players from Football Manager have you seen in real life that impressed or depressed you. We don’t want to spoil it for you, but it’s almost always depression. Even a certain Chilean made George sad.

Chris talks us through real-life getting in the way of Football Mananger, and the idea for a new save coming to him while he was sat on a sun lounger in Spain. It involves buying British players with Tenerife, giving them game time, and then selling them on.

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s all this too –

  • Chris’s epic run to the Copa Del Rey final which involved a ridiculous amount of giant killing and a special hiding at the hands of one Lionel Messi. George compares Messi to Maribor.
  • George’s second season in Slovenia is delightfully alliterative, but it doesn’t get off to the sort of start he was hoping for. But despite the usual hiccup at Maribor, the league isn’t looking too bad.
  • Chris explains the switch from being a dedicated FM player to having trouble finding time to fit in any more than a few hours a week. And we have a chat about what we’d like to see in Football Manager 16.
  • All that plus the suspense of whether or not Ed will turn up. He, er, doesn’t.
