Episode 15: Up (and up) the Sunderland Albion

After last week’s international flavour to the podcast, this week starts off with George on his own. Don’t worry though, Ed isn’t dead like George feared, he’s actually on holiday.

George is joined by AcidFire21, who some of you might know as Andy. This week saw the return of the Premier League as well, so the community question is all about the best debut you’ve given a player, or the best debut you’ve had as a manager in FM.

Andy’s story involves a hat trick by a regen in 16 minutes, while Hamoudi chimes up with a three nil win in his first match as a manager.

There’s much more as well, more like this –

  • Andy talks us through recreating a dead team called Sunderland Albion. He built a database, parachutes Albion in at the bottom, and leads the team to become the best in the world.
  • George and Andy discuss strange formations and how pace can be the most essential attribute for cheaper players. It’s all about complimenting your midfield apparently.
  • Andy also discusses finding prospects when you’re playing a team that doesn’t have a massive infrastructure, scouting, and throwing 16 year olds into the first team because there’s nothing else to do.
  • We talk about what to do with a save when you’ve already completed everything. The general consensus – complete it all again.
  • George starts a new save with Fulham, which is all going surprisingly well, and we get some recommendations for what to read.
