Episode 16: The Waiting Game

Ed and George return after a couple of weeks off to regale you with stories of Football Manager triumph and tragedy. There’s no guest this week, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to talk about.

The question of the week is all about transfer deadline day. We wanted to know the best deal you’d done on deadline day in FM. After getting scared by change, George sort of fails to answer the question, but does manage to get one over on his arch enemies Maribor.

Ed gets in an argument with his star at Southampton, makes a bunch of money from selling him, and then spends hardly any of the return on what turns out to be the start of a beautiful bromance.

George regrets taking part in transfer deadline day, the press options are a bit lacking, and there’s a chance that everyone’s been taking hard drugs.

And then there’s all of this stuff as well –

  • Ed’s Bayern Munich team has taken a back seat to be replaced by Crystal Palace. He’s bought in one of George’s favourite FM players, but it’s not going great. There have been cup upsets and some stodgy mid-table shenanigans.
  • George’s dabbling with Fulham continues, he compares them to Nuremberg, and wonders if you really can win anything with kids. But then he got bored.
  • The Slovenian adventure continues with George sitting at the top of the league, but some dodgy results might spell trouble in the brewing.
  • Manchester United and their many goalkeepers are a topic for discussion, but there’s the question of what FM can do to keep our host’s interest.
