Episode 9: Ed Is Back With A Brand New Statistical App

This week Ed returns from his hiatus, much to everyone’s relief, and we’re joined by Luke, who proves that pretty much all the guests we have on are much better at Football Manager than we are.

We also ask what’s the shortest save time anyone has in their FM career, which leads to George controversially comparing Burnley to a Lada and Ed telling the story of a management career that makes Brian Clough’s tenure at Leeds look like a job for life.

This week we also had a good long chat about –

  • What Ed’s been up to with his Bayer Leverkusen and Dundee saves since he took the lads on holiday to Argentina. There’s a surprising amount of last game nail-biters.
  • George admits that his Slovenian adventure has been put on the back burner a little, that Maribor is still his bogey team, but that the business side of things is going remarkably well. It’s all about the numbers after all.
  • Luke explains the tweaked Dafuge Challenge he’s been taking on with Stamford, from mid-table strugglers in the Conference North to four Champions League victories in about twenty years.
  • He also explains how to avoid a funk when you’re trying the Dafuge, why a team that’s won five Premier League titles only has a weekly gate of 12,000, and how the YouTube audience the Stamford Struggle has garnered has given him the drive to keep playing.
  • And we talk answer some of your questions, ranging from which edition had the best players, to the most we’ve spent on a single player.
